There's really no advertising bullet-length way to properly explain Office retail licensing, so "1 user and 2 PCs" is not entirely acurate. Microsoft allows an additional concurrent activation on the portable computer that belongs to the primary user of the main computer.

So this main computer could have two, three, four, or a bunch of user accounts. Each of those user accounts will be able to use the installed Office program. The retail license is allowed to be moved to other computers say, for example, one of the original computers dies or is retired for a new one. The other widely available licensing option, the product key card, only allows one activation at at time, and only on the original computer onto which the license was first installed.

If and when that computer dies, the license dies right along with it. Thank you for replying and glad to know that the installation was successful, however you are getting error Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this product while opening Word Let me help you with the issue. Hi folks, Need some help and advise, i am currently running Windows XP though i am due to upgrade in a few months, in the meantime i have some Excel spread sheets i need to access and was hoping you could let me know where i may be able to get a free trial period on Windows or any other compatible software that will enable me to do this and tide me over for a month or so.
